Balls-out performance art to freak out downtowners

Intentionally misspelled words convey a questionable operation—i.e. Korn, Limp Bizkit—and Pure Cirkus fits the bill. Formed in 2003, People Undergoing Real Experiences added the “Cirkus” after incorporating stuff like fire acts and juggling into their repertoire of body modification-centered performance. If the only mod you’ve made is via the earring gun at Claire’s, the “Real Experiences” we’re dealing with here involve folks being suspended by big, scary-looking hooks. The group does this everywhere from raves to fundraisers to private parties. Today, they’re going to thrill/shock/nauseate with a promised stunt the likes of which we (at least, downtown workers) have never seen. Their only hints: “Four Shark hooks, four six-gauge needles, two people, 60 feet of rope, and a 2,000-lb vehicle.” That makes for an interesting lunch break, indeed.
