Sugar Rush

No Zac, no Vanessa, but the songs remain the same

Last year Disney’s High School Musical soundtrack hit no. 1 on the Billboard charts and iTunes’ bestseller list, making it the most successful made-for-TV film in history. Not one of those buyers? HSM stars Zac Efron as basketball team captain Troy and Vanessa Hudgens as shy math whiz Gabriella, clique-crossed lovers who manage to overcome their school’s status quo—which drop-dead gorgeous teens are apparently at the bottom rung of—and still remain true to their hearts. (And oh my god, oh my god, Zac and Vanessa are, like, totally dating in real life!) If none of that scared you off, congratulations: The Seattle Children’s Theatre will perform a stage adaptation of the musical for the next 10 weeks. If you’re ready to brave this modern-day Romeo and Juliet story accompanied by confectionery-sweet pop songs, then let the force be with you.

Fridays, 7 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays, 2 & 5:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 14. Continues through Nov. 24, 2007
