Wheels and Reels

A celebration of green commuting

Music, food, film, local artists, and much talk of proper gear ratios are all part of the second annual Bike-In, sponsored by the Northwest Film Forum and Cascade Bicycle Club. The notion is that you should ride to the outdoor confabon your favorite fixed-gear, vintage 10-speed, or brand-new whatever—just so long as you arrive on two wheels. Bands like Claws and The Shackles perform first, followed by a community potluck dinner (at six) and presentations on cycling and sustainable living. All of which leads up to the dusk premiere screening of a new local feature, apparently made by a collaborative, about the virtues of, yes, cycling through Seattle’s increasingly congested streets. The whole evening could just inspire you to become a bicycle commuter during the rainy months ahead, or you might just meet that special someone to share your tandem. Be safe and wear a helmet.
