Unorthodox

Spiritual lyrics and a beer garden

Members of 311claim their band name stems from their guitarist getting arrested after swimming naked in a public pool. (Their hometown Omaha, Neb. police code for indecent exposure is 311.) That guitarist is no longer with the band, so you shouldn’t expect an obscene amount of skin when the reggae/alternative rock lovin’ boys wrap up their Summer Unitytour with an outdoor concert presented by 107.7 the End. Opening for 311 is Matisyahu, a devout Orthodox Jew who blends spiritual lyrics with reggae, hip hop and rock. The result sounds like a combination of Bob Marley, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and tour mates 311. Regardless of your religious affiliationor stance on public nudity, the eclectic music is worth checking out, along with the conveniently-located beer garden nearby.
