Ive said it before and Ill say it again: How many god-awful Cure and Morrissey cover nights must we suffer as Seattleites? Well, if the good folks at Jules Maes keep this kinda thing up, hopefully none. If you read Our Band Could Be Your Life, youd know that Big Black played their final show on Aug. 11, 1987, at the Georgetown Steam Plant. So, its only appropriate that Georgetowns definitive watering hole celebrate the occasion with a tribute night. Punk marimba player Erin Jorgensen will be there with Caustic Resin main man Brett Netsen. Levi Fuller will play solo and with his band, the Luna Moth. Psych punks Kalingrad will be reworking Big Blacks cover of Kraftwerks The Model. But quite possibly the biggest event of the evening: Chris Bauermeister of Jawbreaker will be there, joining Im a Gun for The Power of Independent Trucking and Deep Six. Proceeds will benefit a local no-kill shelter, thanks to PBR. So, drink up with a conscience, yall.
