Sasquatch! Wrap-Up, Featuring the Beastie Boys, the Arcade Fire, Björk, and More
We paid the price in sunburns for these slideshows and live tracks from the annual festival at the Gorge.

Beastie Boys closed Sasquatch! on the main stage.
A few of us spent the weekend at the Gorge getting thirsty, red, and inundated with fuzz, rhymes, and sarcasm.
In case you weren't able to see and hear it for yourself, we brought back photos and live audio of sets.
The stars of the weekend, without question, were the three rich punks in the Beastie Boys. The trio played a mostly instrumental set on Saturday on the Wookie Stage, and closed the festival Sunday in front of a wind-whipped yet adoring audience on the main stage.
— Check out all our Sasquatch! photos, including those of the Beastie Boys, on our slideshows page. — Hear a sample of the Beastie Boys' closing set. — Listen to the entire Beastie Boys' press conference, in which the graying rappers talk about a possible trade to the Arcade Fire and if a record without words can be political.
Other live tracks we brought back include samples from:

Miss Derringer at the Viper Room
Liz McGrath looks like such an adorably sweet little doll that it’s hard to believe she creates such gory (and Goreyesque) paintings, dioramas and sculptures. The singer — who was the cover girl in the Weekly’s September 14, 2007, issue — defies expectations with her latest band, Miss Derringer, which sounds nothing like the chaotic thrill ride of her old punk group, Tongue. Miss Derringer are more traditionally melodic and rootsy on their new EP, Black Tears (Stay Gold Records). The title track is a slice of unabashed ’60s girl-group pop, while “Heartbreaks & Razorblades” offers a more subdued sense of romantic disappointment. Augmented by McGrath’s husband, guitarist Morgan Slade, Miss Derringer are all about atmosphere and setting a retro mood as they examine “honky-tonk subjects like prison, alcohol, sobriety, God, death, murder and alcohol.” When it comes to atmosphere, nobody creates a more enchanting vibe than former Avengers bassist James Wilsey, who’s perhaps best known for scratching up those classic glittery, twangy guitar tones for Chris Isaak. Wilsey opens with his own set and will likely sit in with Miss D, bringing his ghostly tremelo shivers. (Falling James)

The Sweet Wrath of Cowgirl McGrath
Forcibly committed to a rabid Christian brainwashing institution as a teen, then leader of a kinetic punk band called Tongue, and now a globally-adored cult artist who creates macabre faux-taxidermy beasties and spooky dioramas — these are not the normal steps one takes on the way to becoming an alt-country singer. But then Liz McGrath, the frontwoman of LA's Miss Derringer, is most definitely not a normal girl. As a visual artist she's the dark darling of the Juxtapoz set, crafting bizarre (yet somehow gruesomely cute) animals and monsters that burble up from the depths of her imagination. As a singer, though, McGrath is all sweetness. Miss Derringer throws a lasso around country ballads, Morricone-styled desert drama, and even Spector-esque '60s girl-pop, then frosts it with the petite McGrath's sugary vox. And when you have a visual artist as your focal point, you know this is one band that's gonna look cool. Real cool. — John Graham
