A lesbian bar for 30 years before becoming the gay-but-everyone's-welcome bar it's been for nearly 30 more, the Crescent is a Cap Hill institution. An owner during the 1980s, Jim Feigle reclaimed the dive two years ago and nurtured it to its current state of revitalization. This is obvious—and audible—six nights of the week (and Sundays from 3 to 8 p.m.), when karaoke kings and queens throw down some of the most heartwarming and hilarious performances you'll see anywhere in Seattle. Old-timers and young bloods mix it up for an atmosphere that feels connected to the neighborhood—bar manager Scott Hembree, who's been with the Crescent for five years, and bartender Amber, who plays in Go Like Hell, recently worked a soiree for the leagues of Emerald City Softball and a rooftop rock show during this year's Pride. The "War Drag" costume theme party on first Mondays and Sunday's Stereotype dance party—with DJs Limp Wrist, Taller Than Tom Cruise, and Ate My Baby—are cramped but predictably vibrant. 1413 E.
