There are loads of drum and bass producer-DJs around, but few in the U.S. are as precise and brilliant as San Francisco's Hive, whose towering "Krush" (on Metalheadz) was one of the best tracks of 2005. Impulse of Corrupt Souls, TZA, Syze, Ill Cease, Grym, and MC Dre also perform. Chop Suey, 9 p.m. $10 before 11 p.m./$12 Keen has never been a great singer, but he's one of alt-country's heroes for a reason—he's a great songwriter, which counts for plenty. Stephen Clair opens. Crocodile Cafe, 7 p.m. $25 adv./$28 With his band Sun Kil Moon, Kozelek recently released the Modest Mouse covers album Tiny Cities, which is actually really damn good. Gallery 1412, 8 p.m. $5–$15 Gas Huffer The final-ever show for one of the city's longest-standing punk institutions—the drummer's leaving for an art-director job at Rolling Stone, fancy that—should be something of a family reunion, especially with Girl Trouble and Canned Ham opening. Crocodile Cafe, 9 p.m. $8 Krakt You've only got one chance per month to hear the dirtiest, grittiest, slammin'-est techno around, and this is it: residents Kristina Childs and Paul Edwards bring Peacefrog/Perlon artist Daniel Bell (dbx) for this installment. Baltic Room, 8 p.m. NC KEXP members/$7 Giant Sand + Sera Cahoone + Tim Seely The latter two singer-songwriters have been recently praised in these pages for their remarkable range in the pop/alt-country arenas; Howe Gelb's eclectic Giant Sand needs little introduction among fans of either.
