You could think of it as the poor man's Paramount. After all, the Moore Theatre is part of the same mini-chain of venues (Seattle Theatre Group), and even the mainstream artists it showcases, like Ben Folds or Bob Mould or Stephen Lynch, are usually popular in an offbeat, cultish sort of way. It's also within easy staggering distance of one of Seattle's finest dives, the Nitelite Lounge, whereas the Paramount sits squarely between bustling downtown and hip Capitol Hill. In other words, for those who prefer their big venues a bit rough around the edges anyway, the Moore beats the Paramount on charm, on-stage lighting, affordability, and, frequently, booking. 1932 Second Ave., 206-467-5510, www.themoore.com.
