Almost nothing is free anymore, so make sure to take note that EMP’s Liquid Lounge is. Every evening of every week, the loftlike space that looks down upon the museum to one side and Fifth Avenue to the other hosts a wide range of free musical diversions. On Wednesdays, it’s pop-culture trivia night, with an extension of happy-hour prices to fuel the competition, and then karaoke starts at 9 p.m. On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, live bands from near and far perform on the Lounge’s small stage; Sundays are reserved for open mikes; and on Tuesdays, Liquifi brings a diverse mix of electronic music and turntablists into the space.
