There are two things you can count on at the Athenian's happy hour, which runs from 5 to 6:30 p.m. daily, and one thing you can't. There will always be a painterly sunset vista, different every day but never less than stunning; and $2.50 well drinks strong enough to make the colors blur a little. Less certain: who your barfly neighbors will be. One night, a raucous blonde with competing accents (hair and voice) flanked by several young male consorts; the next, a stout older woman in a hand-knit poncho emblazoned with the word "BABE." (You can practically hear the barman cry: "Get your archetypes right here!") Though not discounted for happy hour, something from the ample bar-snack menu (onion rings, crab cakes, even decent ceviche!) should help keep the room from spinning when it's time to go. 1517 Pike Pl., No. 1517, 206-624-7166.
