The Brooklyn Seafood, Steak, and Oyster House

You'll think you've died and gone to yuppie heaven. Only a place with a name like the Brooklyn can cram so many upwardly mobile professionals in for after-office cocktails (though you'll still feel comfortable in your jeans and thrift-store boots). This isn't your typical, college-style happy hour, where you can get a beer for a buck, but the appletinis flow just fine at $3.79 apiece, along with a healthy selection of draft beer and highballs. The slightly higher-than-average prices produce high expectations—and seem to keep out the obnoxious barely legal set. For only $4.99, you can get happy with two of the Brooklyn's 10 daily oyster choices; for oysterphobes, a plate of thick, deliciously tender cilantro calamari does the trick. 1212 Second Ave., 206-224-7000.
