Fresh Potatoes, Garlic Braids, and Pepper Wreaths

Though Thanksgiving is still a while away, it's never too early to stock up on fresh potatoes. And with Seattle's farmers markets currently boasting over 25 varieties of spuds, it's an ideal time to bring some home. You can also find ornamental food like garlic braids and pepper wreaths, plus new ideas on cooking seafood, courtesy of the Taylor Shellfish stand in the Columbia City market on Wednesday, Sept. 22, where they'll be demonstrating the fine art of oyster shucking from 3 to 7 p.m. At the Lake City market, chef Luigi Valenciana of the Mojito Cafe will share his skills at 4 p.m. on Thursday; at the U District market, Oceanaire chef Kevin Davis will demonstrate his craft at 10 a.m. on Saturday; and at the West Seattle market, chef Charles Ramseyer of Ray's Boathouse will be inciting your appetite at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
