JOHN MARSHALL and CHRISTINE DEAVEL eat, sleep, and breathe poetry. Co-owners of the poetry-only bookstore Open Books: A Poem Emporium, one of only two such stores in the country, they also write and edit. It's inspiring to be around people who so clearly love what they do for a living. Their passion for verse is all-consuming: Christine gave John a letterpress for his 50th birthday; he proceeded to publish a book of her poems for her. You would think selling only poetry would be a business recipe for disaster, but the shop has been around for nine years and is still going strong.
