TITTIES AND BOO-BOOS

Secluded Alley Works is exhibiting medicine for what ails you: girlie paintings with an attitude. On offer are “prescriptive” paintings by Seattle artist Kristine Evans (also known as Kinoko) and big acrylic paintings (such as those above) of naked ladies by cartoonist and illustrator Ellen Forney. Kinoko’s paintings are in that syrupy super-sweet, Hello-Kitty school, and her subjects this time are nurses and others dealing with the emotional ouchies. Also on display are Evans’ customized first aid kits and Happy Band-Aids. Forney’s huge paintings on wood evoke the pin-ups of the 1940s and ’50s, but with modern-day, smart, lusty ladies. The two artists will participate in a DJ-style audio performance and question-and-answer session: 4 p.m.-5 p.m Sat. Nov. 15. Secluded Alley Works, 113 12th Ave. 206-839-0880. Noon-5 p.m. Sat.-Sun. Exhibit ends Nov. 26. ANDREW ENGELSON
