"We're going to have fun with this beer and see how it rides out . . . Don't let it pass you by . . . Rise above it all with Hale's MonorAle!" These and other blurbs too painful to mention signal the release of Hale's Brewery's new seasonal ESB. Billed to boast complexity, herbal aroma, and crisp bitterness, you can try it for a limited time at around $3.50 a pint at Hale's own brewpub, 4301 Leary Way N.W. in FREMONT and other distinguished tap-houses.
The label's new but the beer inside the bottle is the same fine, old-fashioned malty seasonal amber that Alaska Brewing has been turning out in its Anchorage brewery since 1986. Coming into local stores (around $7 a sixpack) now.
Capitol Hill's Elysian Brewery expects to open a second location this week at 2106 N. 55th. The 16-tap pub-restaurant will be open seven days a week to serve hungry and thirsty Greenlake-area residents. Check out www.elysianbrewing.com for more.
Aptly named Detonator, Fish Brewing's seasonal Doppelbock weighs in at a hefty eight percent alcohol, but it's the ageing in oak wine-barrels that give the brew its subtle twang. About $2.50 per 12-ounce bottle. Move now; only 110 cases produced.
