MEAT BY THE FOOT, PRICED BY THE INCH At the new restaurant from Sam Hassan, owner of Seward Park's Pizza Rio, saving room for dinner might mean fasting for a day. Rio Brazilian Grill in the University District (where Caff頂razil used to be) is a churrascaria rodizio. That's something like a Roy's Chuck Wagon, but tropical; a Brazilian-style all-you-can-eat steakhouse. An assortment of meats and seafood are grilled on 3-foot skewers over an open fire, then delivered round the dining room dim sum style, along with grilled pineapple, corn on the cob, and sides like Brazilian fried rice and yucca. The best part? You pay by size: adults, $20 (seafood only, $28); kids under 4-foot-6, $10 (seafood only, $14); Kids under 3-foot-6, free. 5259 University Way N.E., 206-526-7123. LUNCH NO MORE Skipping lunch is more than just a fashion statement. When too many people do it, it's a sign of hard times. Apparently lunches weren't so lucrative for Palisade, because it's calling itself a "dinner house" these days, keeping the shutters closed till 5 p.m. weekdays (4 p.m. weekends). Such a shame, given the afternoon views out those big, waterfront windows. Lucky for weekend brunchers, Palisade's still open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; pay them a visit, or they might take that away, too. 2601 W. Marina Pl. (ELLIOTT BAY Marina), 206-285-1000. TOM TALKS Dahlia Lounge and Bakery, Etta's, the Palace Kitchen, Teatro Zinzanni. Do you feel like Tom Douglas is everywhere? Prepare to get a lot more freaked out, 'cause now he's coming into your home—through your radio. As of last Saturday, 710 KIRO's broadcasting the local culinary megastar's new talk show, "Tom Douglas' Seattle Kitchen," every Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. The show will feature special guests (expect some big-name chefs), listener calls, and features like "Review the Reviewer," a segment in which Tom will critique the critiques of local restaurant reviewers. Ooh, we're shaking. WRONG AGAIN K䲥n Jurgensen of Baci Catering would like it clearly understood that she has not left the firm to teach full-time at Culinary Communion. She remains at Baci as executive chef, joined, as chef de cuisine, by Michael Showers, late of the Capitol Club and Bandoleone. Food and/or beverage news?
