What's up with Nigella? Why don't my hard-boiled eggs peel nicely? Where can I take a large group of insane Californians for sushi? You have questions about food and/or beverages; Hungry & Thirsty continue to be at your service. Write to hungry&thirsty@seattleweekly.com or c/o Seattle Weekly, 1008 Western Ave., Ste. 300, Seattle, WA 98104. Hi Hungry and Thirsty, Could you please recommend a decent restaurant in Kirkland that serves brunch at a reasonable price ($10-$20 per person)? Thank you, Colette Hungry replies: We do not often undertake the journey to the Eastside, though we were treated to a lovely dinner at WATERS LAKESIDE BISTRO (1200 Carillon Point, Kirkland, 425-803-5595) recently—a smoked trout, pear, and endive salad was spectacular. One can only imagine that their brunches are a bit extravagant and priced accordingly, however, and you seek mere decency and reasonableness, Colette; thus we asked around the office and shall offer you a few completely untested recommendations from people who may have all their taste somewhere other than their mouths, for all we know. At any rate, you might try ORIGINAL PANCAKE HOUSE (130 Parkplace Center, Kirkland, 425-827-7575): It is reportedly "nothing like IHOP, good, and specializes in breakfasts/brunches" (we understand they have the nearly extinct Dutch baby on the menu). An unusually terse Seattle Weekly employee offers up the TRIPLE J CAFɼ/B> (101 Central Way, Kirkland, 425-822-7319) with no further comment. And from one more: "Strictly non-glam is GEORGE'S PLACE (108 Kirkland Ave., 425-827-6622), a Greek diner right in the heart of town. Really good gyro omelet." Please let us know how any or all of these work out for you, and bon app鴩t. Thirsty replies: Dutch babies! You don't see those around much these days! Big puffy browned babies of the pancake world! Sprinkled with powdered sugar! Yum! Go there and try it, Colette! Please! Tell Hungry it is good! Thank you! hungry&thirsty@seattleweekly.com
