Alex Kuo's widely-published poetry, fiction and non-fiction reports on everything from Aryan Nation parades to tales of school children terrorizing Beijing's Bank of China. His most recent novel, Chinese Opera, is set in Beijing during the Tiananmen Square uprising. A new collection of poems, This Fierce Geography, will be available in the fall.

Now in its 22nd year, the Starbucks Bookfair, the largest gathering of independent presses on the West Coast, presents an array of fine presses, bookmakers, literary magazines and alternative 'zines. Over 60 groups bring their recent works for sale and display. The Starbucks Bookfair also offers author book signings and the ongoing and interactive BumberChronicles project, which allows you to share your memories of Bumbershoots past with Paul Dorpat, Seattle historian.
Bumbershoot, The Seattle Arts Festival is produced and presented by One Reel, a Northwest non-profit arts organization, in collaboration with Seattle Center.
